When starting jEdit the process hangs at 'run startup scripts'. jEdit 4.3.2 had been running fine on ubuntu 10.4 when the problem just began. The only thing I can think of that might have caused the problem wa a periodic update of the ubuntu software. I attach a log of the failed startup process. On advice from developers, schlomo, I renamed the perspective.xml file, which fixed the problem.

I think I understand the bug but I have no idea to reproduce it, do you have steps to make this bug happens ? |

Hello, I think i know what might cause the hang. I recently changed the default encoding
to UTF-16 and since jedit locks at run start-up scripts. Did you change your encoding
too? The workaround was a new install and the dreaded re-configuration (plugin installs and making menus for them) and all is back to normal. I just know the default encoding for text can never be changed to UTF-16. The lock will always occur. Tested twice. |
